Kein Ruhmesblatt für das hochsubventionierte deutsche Opernwesen, daß die stilbildenden Aufführungen im Ausland zu sehen sind (Karl-Ernst Herrmann mit Mozarts „Titus“ und „Don Giovanni“, Luc Bondy mit „Cosî“ in Brüssel, Steinen [sic] Cardiff). Auch die Waliser Aufführung kam mit Hilfe des Intendanten zustande, der in Europa das bedeutendste Musiktheater leitet und fördert: Gérard Mortier in Brüssel. Dürfen wir also hoffen, dieser Inszenierung auf dem Kontinent wieder zu begegnen? (Anonymous 62)
