Auf einem der grossartigsten und durch seine Ausdehnung berühmtesten Werke Englands, dem Dowlais iron-work bei Merthyr Tydvil [sic] in Wales, bedient man sich zur Herausförderung der Kohlen, welche durch einen Schacht aus dem Tiefbaue bis zur Stollnsohle gehoben und von da zu Tage gebracht werden, einer vor dem Stollnmundloche stehenden stationären Maschine mit Vorder- und Hinterseil oder einem Seile ohne Ende.
